What to do in ColoradoAspen is a small city in Pitkin County, Colorado. It has a population of around 6600 people and is a popular ski destination in the winter. Aspen actually started as a mining camp during the Colorado silver rush. The city is now an upscale ski resort and tourist destination.
Aspen is located about 40 miles southeast of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Glenwood Springs is on Interstate 70 between Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado. The safest way to reach Aspen by driving is to leave Denver on I70 headed west. Once you reach Glenwood Springs you take Colorado highway 82 south. The driving time between Aspen and Denver is approximately 3 1/2 hours in good weather. It's a popular destination for many movie stars. The city boasts such fine shopping destinations as Prada, Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren among others. The city also boasts multiple fine dining destinations such as Pinons Restaurant, Mezzaluna Aspen and L'Hostaria.
If you get bored with shopping and eating the skiing in Aspen is world class. Aspen Snowmass can accommodate all you skiing needs. They offer season passes as well as multiple fun events throughout the year. Budweiser has multiple events scheduled for Snowmass in 2012.
Aspen also hosts multiple biking events in the summer. There are multiple bike shops in town and many of them do bike rentals. The Rockies are beautiful any time of year and visiting them in the summer on a bike is a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery. Many world class bike racers train in Colorado as the high elevation helps with breathing and stamina in lower elevations. ：
